Welcome to the home page of the Directorate of Finance and Legal Services.

The Directorate provides a wide range of services across the University and this site is intended to make available all of the key information that you need to understand University regulations and requirements.

The website is structured around the departments of the Directorate:

• Research and Business Development Office – provides services to support research applications, knowledge transfer, intellectual property management and contracting with business and full Economic Costing and pricing of such activities;

• Finance – deals with accounting (including systems), financial planning and forecasting, payroll, payments, taxation, receipt and collection of income, bursary administration, risk management and insurance and purchasing;

• Legal services – co-ordinates the provision of all legal and contracting work across the University including the delegation of some aspects of work to RBDO or others.

In addition to the pages giving information about the Directorate’s teams there is also an Administration handbook (which replaces the paper copy of the Finance Administration Handbook which was first produced in 2001) that provides a resource to explain how all aspects of the financial administration of the University should operate including the University’s financial regulations and includes many downloadable forms.
